Little Math Hero ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of children and families. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the Little Math Hero mobile application ("App"). We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and the Australian Privacy Act 1988.

Little Math Hero is designed for children ages 5–10, with parent/guardian-managed accounts. Children do not create their own accounts — all child profiles are created and managed by an authenticated parent or guardian.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Parent Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address (for account creation, login, and session summary emails)
• Password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text)
• Purchase history (premium subscription status, managed by RevenueCat)

1.2 Child Profile Information

When a parent creates a child profile, we collect:

• Child's first name (display purposes only)
• Date of birth (to determine appropriate difficulty suggestions)
• Avatar selection (chosen by parent or child)
• 4-digit PIN (stored as a hash for child login)
• Difficulty level and timer visibility settings

1.3 Practice Session Data

During math practice sessions, we collect:

• Per-question response data: operation type, operands, the child's answer, the correct answer, and response time in milliseconds
• Session metadata: start time, completion time, total question count, correct answer count, and total session duration
• Adaptive difficulty scores: per math fact attempt counts, accuracy rates, and priority scores used to personalize future sessions

This data is used solely to provide adaptive practice sessions and generate parent analytics. It is never used for advertising or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

1.4 On-Device Storage

Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using Expo SecureStore (encrypted storage). These tokens keep you logged in between app sessions. You can clear them by logging out or deleting the app.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the App's math practice features
• Personalize practice sessions using adaptive difficulty algorithms
• Generate performance analytics for parents
• Send email summaries of practice sessions to parents
• Process in-app purchases and manage premium subscriptions
• Authenticate parent and child users

3. Automated Decision-Making

Little Math Hero uses an adaptive learning algorithm that automatically adjusts which math questions are presented to your child. The algorithm calculates a priority score for each math fact based on:

• Error rate (how often the child answers incorrectly)
• Response speed (how quickly the child answers)
• Recency (how long since the fact was last practiced)

Math facts with higher priority scores appear more frequently in future sessions. This automated decision-making affects only question selection — it does not restrict access to any features of the App.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party service providers to operate the App:

These service providers process data only as necessary to provide their services to us and are bound by data processing agreements. We do not sell or share personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Parental Consent (COPPA Compliance)

Children cannot create their own accounts. By creating a child profile within their authenticated parent account, the parent or guardian provides verifiable consent for collection and use of the child's practice data as described in this policy.

Parents may at any time:

• Review their child's practice data within the App
• Delete individual child profiles to stop collection of that child's practice data, without affecting the parent's account
• Request deletion of their entire account and all associated data

6. Data Retention

• Active account data: Retained while your account remains active.
• Session and response data: Retained while the associated child profile exists.
• Post-deletion: All data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account or child profile deletion.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and encrypted on-device token storage. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

8. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users via email within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, in accordance with GDPR Article 33/34 requirements. We will also notify relevant supervisory authorities as required by applicable law.

9. Your Rights

GDPR Rights (EU/EEA Residents)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing of your personal data. Contact us at support@littlemathhero.com to exercise these rights.

CCPA Rights (California Residents)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

Australian Privacy Act

Australian users may access and correct their personal information. If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, you may lodge a complaint with us or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

10. What We Don't Do

• We do not display advertisements of any kind
• We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs
• We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for marketing
• We do not collect location data, contacts, or browsing history
• We do not enable child-to-child communication or social features

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through a notice in the App. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
